MONDAY - Devotion Overview

We introduce the devotional topic for the week, deeply rooted in scripture and designed to challenge us to walk deeper in our faith as disciples of Jesus. Whether you're in the saddle, mucking a stall, out in the field, or getting ready for a lesson, we will start our week leaning into God's Word and letting Him fuel us in all we do. There will be both themes (like identity, community, discipline, and more) and studying passages or books of the Bible. We will often ask YOU for input on topics, passages, current traps (you'll learn what that is later), and more.

TUESDAY - Equine Analogy

We'll dive into a different part of the horse world that reminds us of this week's topic or passage. We will use it to explore how we can bring God into it or how it can remind us of who God is and how we can be disciples in that space. Horses are incredible creatures, and the equestrian world is full of excitement and energy—imagine how much richer it becomes when we intentionally look for God in it.

WEDNESDAY - Trap vs Truth

Traps are those lies we believe about ourselves and others, the dark areas of the equestrian world, and the sinful temptations that can lead us astray. These traps can easily ensnare us, tear us down, and make us feel worthless. They can impact how we love ourselves and others, how we shine the light of Jesus, or even cause us to dim that light. Thankfully, we have a way our as we uncover the Truth. The truth is defined by God and God alone because he is truth. His word is truth and therefore a rock we can build our lives on. When we replace the traps with His truth, we create space for God to do His work in our lives.

THURSDAY - Bring it to the Barn

It's important to turn our learning into action with "Bring it to the Barn." This is our chance to take the insights and truths from the week's study and apply them in practical ways. What practices can we implement based on our reflections? How can these teachings influence our daily interactions at the barn and beyond? James 1:22, 25 "But don't just listen to God's word. You must do what it says... and if you do what it says and don't forget what you heard, then God will bless you for doing it."

FRIDAY - Prayer

Prayer is our direct line to God and a crucial element of our relationship with Him. It's not just an activity for church or Bible study; prayer is a daily opportunity to connect with God and align our hearts with His. Like any meaningful relationship, the more time we spend together, the stronger our bond becomes. Through prayer, we invite God into our lives, seek His guidance, and open ourselves to His presence. This connection is vital in helping us avoid those traps and remind us of His enduring truth. By praying, it deepens our understanding of His active presence in our everyday lives and reveals His ongoing work in the environments we inhabit.

SATURDAY - Add the Flavour

Just as salt adds flavor to any dish, we each have the opportunity to enrich the lives around us. The "flavor" we choose to spread is crucial. Will we season our world with more of Jesus, or will we opt for something else? Being "salty" is an intentional and conscious means of enhancing our environments with the love, grace, and truth that comes from following Christ. We end our week by asking ourselves how we are going to keep the flavour moving forward, "Where and how are you going to add the flavor?" Whether you're at a show, working at the barn, or simply hanging out with friends, what does staying "salty" look like in your setting? How can you bring the distinct flavor of Christ's love to those interactions or spaces?

SUNDAY - Sabbath

Each week, we will commit to Sabbath. Mark 2:27, Jesus reminds us that "The Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath." This means that the practice of taking a day each week is not just legalism or a "have to", it's a gift from God for us. He recognizes that it's vital for us to rest and take intentional time to connect with Him. Sabbath is a day for us to slow down, reflect on who God is, what He has done, and where he wants to take you. Turning down the noise, slowing down from the hustle and bustle, and just being with our amazing creator.

We understand that taking Sunday as a Sabbath isn't always possible for everyone. Whether it's a show weekend or you always work on Sundays, it's not the exact day that matters, it's the importance of taking time to rest. And if committing to a whole day of rest seems unrealistic, ask yourself: What time can I set aside and protect for rest and connection with God? Not to get chores done or the work that's been sitting on your desk, but a set apart times to just be. It might (most likely will) feel like a sacrifice, but we promise it's worth it.
